Independence is Scotland’s Fresh Start
As Scotland’s Parliament returns, the contrast between Holyrood and Westminster has never been clearer.
Here in Scotland, peak rail fares have been abolished for good, cutting the cost of living and helping people travel more affordably. Action on housing is being stepped up, with bold plans to tackle the housing emergency. Where the Scottish Parliament has the powers, it delivers.
But at Westminster, chaos rules. Energy bills are rising again – despite Labour’s promise they would fall by £300. The Chancellor is preparing more tax rises and spending cuts. And instead of offering solutions, both Tory and Labour politicians are turning to scapegoating vulnerable groups, stoking division to hide their own failures.
This is the reality of the Westminster system: a political and moral vacuum that puts ordinary people last. After years of Tory austerity and Labour retreat, the prospect of a Nigel Farage premiership shows just how dark that path is becoming.
Scotland does not need to go down it.
Independence is our fresh start. It means decisions about Scotland will be taken in Scotland, with the focus on building a fairer economy, protecting public services, and creating opportunities for our young people. It means a government that answers to us, not to Westminster.
The choice is clear: a future trapped in Westminster’s chaos, or a new beginning with independence.
